Alfred Crochet Kit

Came with EVERYTHING, even the little stitch markers and a thank you note.

My mom used to crochet. I did this kit in her memory and it made me feel close to her again. Thank you. Growing up, I used to sit next to my mom while she crocheted blankets. I never learned, I always just watched her hands move so fast. She passed away last year, and when I saw this kit, I thought… maybe this is the time. I chose the cat because she loved cats, and I followed the instructions, watching the tutorial with tears in my eyes at times. It was hard at first, but something about the rhythm brought back all those childhood memories. Finishing the cat felt like wrapping a piece of her around me. I now keep it on my shelf by a picture of her.

Everyone keeps telling you to “get a hobby” for your mental health, but no one tells you how to start. This kit was that starting point for me. I needed something quiet, creative, and low-pressure and this was perfect. I finished the cat over the weekend and I’m already eyeing the penguin next. Picking up this new hobby helped me remember I’m more than just my to-do list.
